With 25 years of experience in entrepreneurship and having built numerous start-up companies that got Chris Shahabi featured in FORBES magazine and the National, the entrepreneurship masterclass pilot was launched at the Toronto School of Management (TSOM) with the help of Student Services department.
During the last 45 days the workshop series gained the attention of students from around the world who logged in via zoom and from those who attended in class, on campus. The numbers are indicative of the interest in the program by a generation motivated to develop an entrepreneurial mindset where they can either use the acquired skills in their place of work or in start-up ventures they go on to create.
In the 3rd of 4 sessions held every two weeks there were 28 registrants and 13 participants, resulting in an attendance rate of 46% which was a big jump from the first two sessions of 33% and 35%.
In the final session of the masterclass series to be held on June 23rd, three new start-ups will be unveiled. One in 3D printing, one in fashion and design, and the third will be in pet care services.
I am very excited and hopeful to turn this Entrepreneurship Masterclass into a micro-certificate program in Canada, and eventually, launch it around the world. Empowering the next generation with the right set of skills that can help them become the engines of economic growth should be a national priority, especially in the internet era where opportunities to start a venture no longer require massive upfront investment, said Chris Shahabi.
